Restaurants

Rascafria has an excellent reputation for its food... it is a paradise for anybody who loves food. There is an abundance of natural products available from the mountains, ranging from wild mushrooms, to the wild boar, venison and pheasant, in season. The beef is fantastic, and you will be surprised at the size of steaks served in the village restaurants!

There are lots of restaurants in Rascafria, mainly due to the fact that Madrilenos love to drive to the area on a Sunday to eat out - the food is truly exceptional, as is the red wine.

Here are just a few of the village's many restaurants:

Los Claveles

Not in the village, but close to El Caracol. At the bottom of the drive turn left (opposite direction to the village) and after about 3-5 minutes drive you'll see it on your left. Great wine, great seasonal food. A must. Only open at lunchtimes.

Restaurante La Abuela

Small family restaurant, with a wood fired oven and hearty fare.
Calle Abelardo Gallego, 10, 91 869 11 45.

Restaurante Marcos

This restaurant and hostel serves good portions at economical prices - steaks can almost touch the table covers! You'll find it on your left as you make your approach into the village from El Caracol.

Restaurante Casa Juanito

Traditional home-cooked food, meats and stews, with a terrace by the river in the summer.
Avda del Paular, 91 869 11 01.

Restaurante Dom Lope

Part of the Hotel of Santa Maria de El Paular (next to the Monastery), this is where to go to for a romantic evening meal in truly impressive surroundings. Turn right from El Caracol, the hotel is on your left after a minute's drive - straight through the stunning monastery courtyard.
